Ossia is a name that needs little introduction to Bristol heads, a formidable selector and the man behind the Peng Sound dances that regularly bring some of the finest names in Dub music to our town. He arrived at the Tape-Echo studio, dub siren and delay pedal in hand and took listeners on a heady trip through his impeccably curated record boxes, whipping up sonic clouds of feedback and seemingly endless delays between tracks to create the perfect antidote to the vulgar sound of the rain pissing down outside… Featuring choice cuts from artists including Dubkasm, Wareika Hill Sounds, Jah Shaka and a chance to hear a live recording of Yellowman…a TDK 90 was hastily unwrapped and shoved in in the tape recorder about 10 minutes into the set, capturing the magic. For those without a tape deck, the audio is available for download via the link below. Also on the show, a gang of fresh music from the likes of Ekoplekz, A-sek, Neka, Kowton and Inofaith. The next Peng Sound dance is on Saturday the 15th of September at the Take5 cafe and sees the man like Tapes on the decks, (tape decks of course) with El Fata on the mic. Full details are on the Facebook page (linked below).
