Young Echo Sound – 05/03/14 – Special guest – Ekoplekz
Young Echo Sound Following the closure of the The Exchange's basement floor, the Young Echo Sessions have moved location, just a few feet up inside the building, up the stairs and into the main room… In order to maintain an intimate feel, the turntables will be set up at ground level and the stage will be curtained-off and used as a surface for live visual projections by Harry Wright, who is responsible for a high percentage of Young Echo's visual aesthetic - from videos to sleeve designs. El Kid will be performing a special live set. We have no info on it, but expect it to be good - El Kid has delivered perhaps some of the most fine-tuned and deliberated material to come out of the Young Echo formation…. previous shows have seen him touch on acoustic experimentation, left-field drum machine techno and cassette manipulation. Last but not least, this month's session will see a very special live appearance by none other than Nick Edwards aka Ekoplekz who's notorious live shows and genre-defying releases on labels such as Punch Drunk and Mordant Music have cemented his status as one of Bristol's most dangerous musical exports. He is about to launch his sound into new territory with his forthcoming LP on Planet Mu. Drum machines, distortion pedals, synthesizers and lots of echo make up a small part of his hardware arsenal - the outcome is one that needs to be witnessed physically, on a big soundsystem, in person. If you like vinyl and cassettes, bring spare change - RwdFwd will be bringing a selection of their stock especially for this event - including limited upfront copies of Killing Sound's 2 x 12" ono Blackest Ever Black, due for release at the end of the month. Doors open at 11, sound runs 'til 2(ish). £4 all night, musical policy - whatever.
