BRSTL004 – Jay L

Two seriously relaxed trax are due any day on the excellent BRSTL label any day now, the 4th instalment from the no nonsense vinyl only label run out of the Idle Hands shop. As their manifesto states they release only House & Techno from bristol and this time around it's the turn of Jay L. 'Try Slung' opens with some looping, after-hours keys and some of the highest grade drum work you'll hear all year…not a lot more to say, just put the needle back to the start already! 'Looking Up' on the flip is a more urgent number, a rigid kick pattern quickly livens up, dropping away into a whirl of bristling hats and lingering keys finished off with an immaculate vocal and effortlessly cool bass. this is some classy gear. Another flawlessly cut gem in the BRSTL crown. This is set to drop any day now so keep an ear to the ground. Alex Digard
